Successfully transforming the field of science, technology and innovation (STI) into an advanced research community hinges on the development of an e-infrastructure that supports full virtual transnational access by researchers. It also requires an enlarged set of services aimed at meeting field-specific needs (for exploring open data and supporting researchers’ analytical capabilities). It also requires the maintenance of data sets and developing new ones. In this context, the EU-funded RISIS 2 project will develop this e-infrastructure. It will also provide training, dissemination and communication activities to support the widening of the community. The ultimate aim of the project is to build on the first RISIS project (2014-2018) and to further support the development of a new generation of analysis and indicators.
